REQUIREMENTS:
- Tertiary qualified Mechanical Engineering degree;
- Minimum 10 years’ experience in the large project engineering industry;
- Experience in the mining / petrochemical industry would be advantageous but not essential;
- Previous experience working as an owner’s team representative would be advantageous but not essential;
- Previous experience on projects located in extreme cold weather climates would be advantageous but not essential;
- Knowledge of the principles of HVAC system design and HVAC equipment selection;
- Previous experience in designing of piping and mechanical equipment for fire protection systems;
- Previous experience in designing overhead / jib cranes, pumping stations equipment, tanks and compressors;
- Knowledge of the design principles of water treatment and sewage treatment systems;
- Experience in drawing up P&ID, PFD and isometric drawings;
- A knowledge of Russian design codes and regulations and approvals process is essential;
- Good organization skills, quick learner, responsive;
- Ability to perform effectively under pressure and manage competing priorities and achieve project deadlines;
- Self-motivated and capable of working with minimum direct supervision and adapting to changing circumstances;
- High level of Microsoft Excel knowledge;
- Ability to work in Autodesk AutoCAD;
- Ability to work in Autodesk Navisworks Fredom;
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop a deliverables list for any detailed mechanical design packages with the local engineering contractor;
- Develop a deliverables schedule for the detailed mechanical discipline in accordance with the project schedule;
- Monitor and manage the local engineers and RDIs to comply with the schedule;
- Hold regular design review meetings with the engineer or RDIs, approve design documentation; resolve problems;
- Manage the detailed mechanical engineering phase within the authorized budget;
- Ensure regular coordination with other discipline members of the Owners Team detailed engineering group;
- Provide weekly bullet point reports and full monthly reports;
- Review layouts and design to ensure compliance with the project requirements;
- Coordinate with peers as required in contracts, procurement, construction, engineering office in Vancouver;
- Participate in supplier selection process to provide technical input as required and ensure that technical requirements are met by the selected supplier;
- Ensure that project documentation is stored securely and effectively in accordance with the project requirements;
- Proactively anticipate and resolve problems encountered to avoid the need for costly re-work and schedule delay;
- Alert the Manager of any delays or potential delays;
- To monitor and trace the Russian legislation re supporting the project needs.
